With more than 25 years of experience in real estate, John opened and manages Metropolitan’s Asia Pacific office and is a voting member of the Global Investment Committee. Metropolitan invests directly and indirectly into private real estate through primaries, secondaries and co-investments with a focus on value-add. Prior to joining Metropolitan, he was a Board Director of Grosvenor Asia Pacific with responsibilities over the years as MD of Investments, Head of China, Head of Fund Management Asia and CEO of the Grosvenor Land Property Fund (JV with Hongkong Land). He was previously a Director of Jardine Fleming Securities, leading the Regional Real Estate Research team.
John received a B.A. in Urban Studies from Brown University and a M.U.D. (with Distinction) from the University of Hong Kong. He is also a Committee Member of the Asian Association for Investors in Non-listed Real Estate Vehicles (ANREV), Hong Kong Committee Member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Brown University Alumni Association (HK) Board Member and UC San Diego School of Global Policy & Strategy International Advisory Board Member.

The UrbanPlan is ULI's unique educational programme that teaches the fundamentals of real estate development and urban planning. In place in the USA since 2003, the UrbanPlan is now being rolled out in Asia. In this session, a group of high-school students from Hong Kong's ISF Academy recounts their experience of one of the region's first UrbanPlan courses.
