Yuumi Yoshikawa has a diverse background, having previously worked for TÜV Rheinland Japan Ltd, Japan Audit and Certification Organization for Environment and Quality, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. Yoshikawa was elected to the House of Councillors for the first time in 2013. She has served as Chairperson of the Education and Chemistry Committee of the House of Councillors, LDP Women's Bureau Director, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Parliamentary Secretary to the Cabinet Office (in charge of Expo '70) and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, before assuming her current position. She has expertise in a wide range of fields, including environment and energy, sustainability, ESG investment, business continuity (BCP), the food industry, art and luxury tourism. Yoshikawa has developed a number of real estate financial products, including the ”Environmental Consideration Evaluation Loan,” ”BCP Evaluation Loan” and ”Sustainable Building Evaluation Loan.” Yoshikawa was secretary-general of the Liberal Democratic Party's 'Art Market Activation Committee' and established the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's first study group on art when she was parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry She is involved in promoting contemporary art and luxury tourism in Japan by connecting the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tourism Agency and others for economic and regional vitalization policies based on art. She is also involved in the promotion of contemporary art and luxury tourism in Japan.
