Cities and architecture are in the midst of an identity crisis. Fuelled by impacts of the COVID pandemic, and by the mounting evidence that we are out of balance, we are re-looking at human habitation through a radically different lens. We are realizing that there are two challenges; the health of people and the health of the planet which are more interlocked than we ever imagined.
Within this current re-examination, we see the emergence of an evolved set of sensibilities. We call it “A New Humanist Architecture”, that stands together as a response to the most critical challenge facing our species. Drivers of the movement are focused on human wellness and experience, while acknowledging a more holistic understanding of the impacts of our actions. They place an emphasis on organizational systems that reduce waste, conserve resources, and suggest a healthy, symbiotic interaction between humans and the natural world.
