With changing demographics and lifestyles, a growing number of the city’s buildings are being renovated, often for different uses. The tour will showcase three successful renovation projects.

Shimao Plaza, a shopping center located next to People’s Square Station and on Nanjing Road East Pedestrian Street, recently went through a massive renovation that revitalised what was once run as a traditional department store. Designed by Kokai Studios, the shopping center has significantly increased foot traffic and revenues.

KaiLong Tower is a hotel-turned-office building on Yunnan Road. The building is currently leased to WeWork.

Xintiandi Plaza, a shopping center component of Shui On Plaza, recently opened for business after undergoing a significant renovation that has improved the access to the adjacent subway station and changed the format of the shopping center to focus on women shoppers.
