Founder & CEO

Takashi Sonoda, Founder & CEO, started Uhuru as a 3 person operation in 2006 with the aim of bringing new users to the internet. The following year, Uhuru became a partner to accelerate cloud computing adoption among enterprise users in Japan. In the years since, Sonoda has driven Uhuru to acquire expertise in the ever expanding offerings of Salesforce and other cloud platform providers, while embarking on developing Uhuru’s own suite of offerings for orchestrating the Internet of Things (IoT). As a result, Uhuru has been deeply involved with IoT projects both in the public and private sector, and in particular with smart city projects, which combine public and private sector aspects. Rural Japan in particular faces a myriad of challenges from an ageing society, which Uhuru is meeting head on, in partnership with local governments and technology partners.

Mr. Sonoda holds a BA from Waseda University in Tokyo and an MBA from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business.
