Managing Director

Rob serves as Managing Director and Founder of Clear Bridge Asia Capital (“CBAC”). He works closely with real estate developers and operators across the Asia Pacific region in their capital, operational and investment planning/execution activities. He has over 20 years institutional real estate experience throughout Asia Pacific and the United States. His broad experience has covered acquisitions/ dispositions, asset management, capital markets and investor relations while managing hard assets and entity level investments. Property type exposure has been diverse and has included CBD/suburban office, existing/ground-up development retail, serviced apartments, hotel, land development, residential for sale, worker dormitory, industrial as well as equity and mezzanine lending asset management oversight.

His skill set, historical experience and reputation negotiating large, complex cross-border transactions uniquely presents CBAC as a trusted advisor focused on filling a gap between local execution capability and capital requirements.

Prior to CBAC’s formation in 2012, Rob was most recently a Managing Director and Head of Asset Management for Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing (MSREI) Asia Pacific. He oversaw the group’s asset management activities in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, India, Singapore/SE Asia and Korea. Reporting directly to the Chairman of MSREI Asia and working with respective country heads, in-country teams and numerous domestic unaffiliated constituencies such as government officials, service providers, lawyers, accountants, etc. Rob has demonstrated an ability to navigate and operate successfully cross-border and multi-culturally. Rob also represented MSREI interests as a voting member of the Board of Directors in most transactions in the region.

Rob joined MSREI in 2002 in their New York office and worked on MSREF’s US opportunity fund investment portfolio. He transferred to Hong Kong in 2004 and then to Shanghai in 2006 as part of the senior management team assigned to open the Shanghai office to commence operations. In 18 months, the office grew from 11 people to over 70 and was a vertically integrated operation capable of operating the Mainland China real estate portfolio on a stand-alone basis. Rob subsequently relocated to Singapore in 2008 assuming full responsibility for asset management of the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to joining MSREI, Rob spent 10 years with Prudential Real Estate Investors in their Newark, Short Hills and Parsippany offices in New Jersey, USA. The majority of his time was spent actively asset managing a geographically diverse value-added portfolio across all property types. Responsibilities also grew to include junior portfolio management roles on behalf of some of the Firm’s separate account clients.
