Mr. Yan Ming is the Deputy General Manager of Shanghai West Bund Development Group Co., Ltd. The West Bund occupies an area of 9.4 square kilometers with 11.4 kilometers shoreline, and a total planned development area of 9.5 million square meters. It is listed in the Master Plan for Shanghai by 2035 as a high quality downtown public space offering innovation, creative, cultural and other core functions of a global metropolis. Mr. Yan Ming has been engaged in brownfield reconstruction, urban regeneration, branding and other related work for a long time, and has participated in a number of key projects at both municipal and district level.
In terms of urban renewal, Mr. Yan Ming strives for innovation, and follows the development concept of “Planning Guidance, Culture Leadership, Ecology Priority, and Sci-tech Innovation Dominance” for Xuhui Riverside to correspondingly transform and upgrade the supporting facilities such as the municipal road network, the regional overall environment and historical sites. The West Bund has become the most open, most convenient, most attractive public activity space with best greenery landscape, and strives to achieve the goal of becoming one of the outstanding waterfront neighborhoods in the world.
In terms of waterfront construction, Xuhui Riverside, guided by the concept of “Shanghai CORNICHE”, sets up flood control walls in a hierarchical manner to create a “breathable” riverside with scenic driving view. Combining cultural facility construction with historical heritages makes it possible for the whole public to see the river, share the green, learn the history, and appreciate the culture.
In terms of industry development, the West Bund is an influential headquarter for the AI industry. The 2018 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), which gathered a number of industry giants such as Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA), Amazon, CCTV, Tencent, Alibaba, Netease, and Xiaomi, was successfully held at Shanghai West Bund. The West Bund will be developed into an international cluster of technological service and a globally influential center of technological innovation. Aiming to create a world-class waterfront open space, Asia’s largest art district and international innovative and creative industry cluster, Shanghai West Bund will be greatly upgraded with the “Double A” (ART+AI) as its engine of development.
Mr. Yan Min has worked on the development and construction of the West Bund for more than 10 years. He was granted the “Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award” by Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and the title of “Outstanding Builder” by the Leading Group of Shanghai Key Project Practical Contribution Competition.
