Mei Xu is a Vice President at International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI), a public benefit corporation with a mission to improve human health and well-being through the built environment. IWBI administers the WELL Building Standard® (WELL), the world’s first building standard focused exclusively on human health and wellness. The WELL building certification program is an evidence-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring the performance of building features and other aspects of the built environments that impact the health and well-being of the people in the spaces we create.
Mei joined IWBI with extensive experience in building sustainability and wellness design, providing advisory support to many WELL and green building projects. As a Vice President, she manages the market solutions team in Asia and focuses on technical support for Asia market, including working as the WELL coaching contact for registered projects in Asia, developing tools and resources to facilitate the certification process, and leading workshops and presentations to help educate the industry on the WELL Building Standard. Prior to working with IWBI, she has years of research and consultancy experience, contributing to many Asia sustainable design and construction projects. In her role, Mei was responsible for optimizing design strategies in wellness and sustainability, building physics computational simulation and analysis, building technology research, project management, as well as oversight and coordination of green building certifications.
