Regional Practice Leader

James Kirkpatrick is the Regional Practice Leader for SOM’s City Design Practice for Southeast Asia.   He has over 17 years of experience in world-class urban design and planning and has led large interdisciplinary teams that span geographies to deliver complex urban solutions, from visioning through to delivery in established and emerging cities.

James’ interdisciplinary background in landscape architecture, architecture, planning and urban design provides a holistic perspective that he uses to guide award-winning master plans in a variety of scales and locations. His work is focused on the relationship between natural and built landscapes as a catalyst for improving cities, resolving infrastructure challenges, and driving economic value in developments.
