Frederico is a Principal in Aedas, with over 22 years’ experience, and projects in such diverse locations as Western Europe (Portugal), Eastern Europe (Ukraine), Africa (Angola and Cape Verde), South America (Argentina), Middle East (Dubai) and Asia (Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore, Myanmar and Indonesia).
Passionate about architecture, Frederico is experienced in all project stages of infrastructure, hospitality, commercial, institutional and residential works. His diverse experience enables his engagement in projects of wide-ranging scope.
Frederico is particularly experienced in large-scale, complex & fast-track projects, such as the West Kowloon Terminus, the Macao Venetian Cotai Strip Parcel 5 & 6 and the Suntec City Project. Frederico is also particularly strong in institutional projects and has completed a number of institution projects, like the New Cotai emergency Centre and Fire Station, New Macao Public Prosecution Headquarters, and the Lisbon Central Mosque Renovation for the Lisbon Islamic Community.
Frederico was Project Architect for the Architectural Design Team in the Design tender for West Kowloon Terminus in Hong Kong, and Detail Design Lead Coordinator & Station Contract Leader post-award. A 430,000 sq m mix-used development winner of several international awards, the new to be Hong Kong Gateway. More recently, Frederico became the Senior Station Architect for the Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) feasibility study; he was also the URA (Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority) invitee to workshop the High Speed Rail impact in Singapore’s Future 2nd CBD Master Plan; and he’s just concluded the Yangon Central Station Redevelopment, a 26 Ha Master Plan creating a New Civic Centre and Urban Park at the Hearth of Yangon, centred in a new redeveloped Yangon Central Station solution that minimizes rail operation disturbances and cost, while maximizing public areas.
These highly specialized and complex HSR rail terminus stations with border crossing facilities allow him a unique understanding of complex stations with integrated TODs.
After relocating to Singapore in 2011, Frederico was contract administrator and contract team leader for the Suntec City Project, a SGD $410 million A&A project; and design leader for the Fusionpolis phase 5 ‘‘Galaxis’’ winning bid, a 70,000 sq m TOD mix-used development, recently awarded 5 BCA awards.
Frederico is also leading Aedas Singapore office in-house training program and BIM committee. Strongly involved in the office’s BIM policy development and implementation, Frederico lead the Aedas Team to achieve the 1st Runner-up in the BCA international BIM competition in 2013 (1st Singapore team), and more recently lead the Aedas Singapore office to win the worldwide ‘‘Design Competition: Algorithmic Design Meets BIM”. Frederico is a frequent speaker at BIM events, with talks in Budapest, Singapore, Tokyo and Osaka.
